Heritage & Design

The Soul of Le 1901

Le 1901 occupies a flat in the Charles III district, renovated in 2026. The brief was the École de Nancy: custom backlit arches, solid oak floors, glazed doors with floral motifs, and original 1910 Art Nouveau wall lights put back into service. The high ceilings and five tall windows come with the building, not with the decoration. Everything else is contemporary: fibre optic internet and wired Ethernet sockets, an OLED TV, automated inertia heating. In the shower room, the floor, the wall and the shower tray are heated. The bed linen is cotton percale, all 5 windows are reinforced double glazing, and a lift runs to the second floor.

Renovated in 2026 by its owner, Florian Ferry, who documents renovation work on flo-perspectives.com.

To plan your stay

The district The Charles III district, central Nancy Le 1901 sits on the second floor of a building in the Charles III district, 300 m from the covered market hall and 650 m from Place Stanislas. Here is what lies at your doorstep. Two days in Nancy Nancy in 48 hours, starting from Le 1901 An itinerary built around two nights, written from the door of the apartment. The times given are real walking times. Business travel Working from Nancy, a week at Le 1901 Ten minutes on foot from the station, a work space with wired Ethernet, a washer and dryer. What that changes on a stay of several days. Near Place Stanislas Where to stay near Place Stanislas, eight minutes on foot Le 1901 is 650 m from Place Stanislas, an eight-minute walk north. Not one of the square’s four sides holds an apartment, and the Grand Hôtel de la Reine, the only place to stay on the square itself, reopens in September 2026. Art Nouveau Art Nouveau in Nancy, and whether the trip is worth it Two museums, one villa and a run of façades left in the streets: Nancy’s Art Nouveau came from a group of manufacturers who joined forces in February 1901 around Émile Gallé. The École de Nancy museum and Villa Majorelle share a single ticket at €9, the rest you read off the sidewalk. Getting here How to get to Nancy and where to park Nancy-Ville station is a 13-minute walk from Le 1901, with direct TGV trains to Paris-Est in about 1 hr 30. If you drive, allow around 50 minutes from Metz and 1 hr 20 from Luxembourg, plus a covered car park from the first evening. Self check-in starts at 4 p.m. From Paris Nancy from Paris: a day trip, or a night on the spot Paris-Est to Nancy-Ville runs with no intermediate stop in about 1 hr 30, roughly nine round trips a day. A day return leaves 7 to 9 hours in town: enough for Place Stanislas and the medieval old town, too short for the École de Nancy, across the city. Saint Nicholas and Christmas Saint Nicholas and Christmas markets in Nancy: 2026 dates and where to stay The Christmas markets open on 22 November 2026 and the festivities run to 3 January 2027. The weekend to aim for is 5 and 6 December: the main parade reaches Place Stanislas late on the Saturday afternoon, an eight-minute walk from Le 1901. Nancy with children Nancy with children, from a 50 m² apartment Four beds in two bedrooms, second floor with a lift. Travel crib, high chair and children’s utensils are already there. The covered market hall is 4 min away on foot and Place Stanislas 8: over three days the car stays in the parking garage. Eating in Nancy Where to eat in Nancy, 300 m from the covered market hall The covered market hall is 300 m away, open Tuesday to Saturday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Around it: La Bolée on Rue des Ponts for crêpes, La Maison dans le Parc for a sit-down dinner, Brasserie Excelsior opposite the station.

Can I arrive late?

Yes, from 4 p.m. and at any hour after that. The lock is a smart lock: your code is sent to you before arrival, and nobody has to meet you there.

Where can I park my car?

We recommend the Saint-Dizier or Dom Calmet secure car parks, located less than 3 minutes away on foot. Street parking is possible but is charged during the day.

Is the apartment quiet?

Not entirely. The flat faces a busy city-centre street: the 5 double-glazed windows soften the traffic noise but do not remove it. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are welcome at Le 1901. We simply ask that you ensure the premises are clean when you leave.

Can I cook on-site?

Yes. Oven, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster and a Nespresso machine.

What is the maximum guest capacity?

Four guests: a 160 cm bed in the main bedroom and a 140 cm fold-away bed in the second bedroom, which doubles as a work space.

How to get to Le 1901 from the station?

Nancy TGV station is about a 13-minute walk away. You can also reach the city centre in 2 tram or bus stops.

What is the quality of the internet connection?
