Working from Nancy, a week at Le 1901
Ten minutes on foot from the station, a work space with wired Ethernet, a washer and dryer. What that changes on a stay of several days.
The connection, first
Fiber optic, Wi-Fi 6 throughout the apartment and wired Ethernet sockets in the work space. The wired socket is not a detail: it is what holds a two-hour video call when the building’s Wi-Fi saturates at the end of the day.
The work space occupies the second bedroom, away from the living room. Screen, keyboard and headset stay on the desk without you having to clear the dinner table.
A week, not a night
Washer and dryer on site: five days fit into hand luggage. The kitchen is fully equipped, with an induction cooktop, oven, dishwasher and a large fridge-freezer, which spares you the restaurant every evening. The covered market is 300 m away for supplies, with the rest of the Charles III district within the same radius.
The 140 cm pull-down bed frees the work space during the day and takes a colleague in the evening. The apartment sleeps four in total, with a 160 cm main bed.
Late arrivals
Access is by smart lock, on your own, from 4 p.m. and at any hour after that. A train arriving at 10:40 p.m. causes no problem and nobody is waiting for you in the hall. Check-out is before 11 a.m.
Around the apartment
The Centre Prouvé, Nancy’s convention center, stands next to the station, thirteen minutes on foot. The Saint-Dizier and Dom Calmet parking garages are under five minutes away if you drive.
For evenings, our short list of tables and bars covers the district. And if the stay runs into the weekend, the 48-hour itinerary starts from the front door. For a free evening, Place Stanislas is an eight-minute walk.

The hall closes on Monday and opens 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday: that is the single calendar constraint of the stay, and the rest of the Charles III district covers Monday.
Centre Prouvé, thirteen minutes away
Nancy’s convention centre opened in September 2014 in the former postal sorting office, hard against the station. Twenty thousand square metres of modular space, two auditoriums seating 850 and 300, fifteen meeting rooms, an underground car park with 455 spaces.
If you are speaking there or attending, the geography is simple: thirteen minutes on foot from the building, on the same route as the station. You take neither car nor taxi all week, and you walk home in the evening.
The rest of the business district sits inside the same radius. And if the trip runs into the weekend, the city needs no planning: Place Stanislas is eight minutes away and two days cover it.
What the apartment does not do
Better said before booking than on arrival. A serviced apartment is not a hotel, and on a business trip the difference shows on four points.
There is no reception desk. Access runs on a smart lock, on your own, and the management goes through the Cocoonr agency. Nobody in the hall, nobody to leave a suitcase with before 4 pm or after 11 am.
There is no daily housekeeping. The place is handed over clean, and across a week the kitchen is yours to keep. In exchange, the dishwasher, the washer and the dryer are on site, which no hotel room offers.
There is no breakfast service. The covered market hall is 300 m away, open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, and the bakeries of Rue Saint-Dizier open downstairs. On Monday you need to have thought about it the day before.
There is no meeting room. To host people, Centre Prouvé is thirteen minutes away and has fifteen rooms. The apartment holds a video call for two, not a meeting for eight.
These four limits are deliberate: they are the price of 50 m², about 538 sq ft, a fully equipped kitchen and a laundry thirteen minutes from the station. For one night a hotel wins. From three nights on the arithmetic flips, and the district does the rest of the work.
